I had the Razor Emporium Horsehide strop and decided to upgrade to the Red Latigo because my other had a few nicks from learnign how to strop. Giving my old one to my brother, I got replacement hardware and a handle so he could have a complete strop. This hardware is very good quality stuff and I will be buying a few other items to further upgrades later.

When I first started shaving with a straight razor a few years ago I destroyed the bottom and top of my strop learning how to strop (poor technique). Since then, I only stropped with the middle 6-8 inches of my strop since that was still intact and smooth. After seeing Razor Emporium’s replacement strop parts online I decided to replace my leather. I bought the Russet Horse Hide Leather. This strop leather is so smooth and performed 100% better than my previous strop leather. It was also nice having the full strop to work with. After stropping my razor, my shave was the smoothest straight razor shave I have ever had. I felt compelled to write this review after my first shave after stropping went so well. So glad I decided to replace my leather. I’ll be using this for many years to come.
