What We Do

Vintage safety razors pack some of the most bang for the buck, but knowing if they are fully functional, hygienic and shave-ready is a different story. Starting at $35, we offer a professional restoration that helps bring your old-school razor back to its glory days.

*Please Note: Specialty razors include Bottom Dial Fatboy, Red Dot Fatboy, and Toggle Safety Razors.

How it Works

  1. We first clean your razor in our industrial ultrasonic machine to remove any soap scum, mineral deposits and grime. Disassembly is carried out for the best results whenever possible.
  2. Next we carefully polish the inside and out of your razor, bringing the vintage metal up to a high luster.
  3. Mechanical adjustments are made to ensure the best functionality of your razor.
  4. We carry out any painting that is needed - numbers on adjusters, tips on super speeds and black handles. We use color-matched powder coating that exactly replicates the original factory colors and process.
  5. Razors are again cleaned and sanitized before being lubricated and mailed back home. We include a free Polishing Cloth that will safely keep the shine on your vintage find!

Why It Matters

Professionally servicing means you'll get the best shaves possible knowing that your razor is functioning as it was designed to. Eliminate common problems that affect shaving performance such as:

  • Bent guards
  • Uneven blade gap
  • Frozen adjusters
  • Loose handles
  • Jammed doors
  • Twist To Open issues
  • Broken Clicker Spring (if you have an adjustable and it doesn't click anymore select the above option)

    Worthy of keeping

When I bought this razor (A 1950s Black Tip Super Speed), it was extremely ratty, and beyond my capabilities for restoration. I decided to try something new and send it off to Razor Emporium for their Tune-Up service. I do not regret that. The razor I received back in the mail is undoubtedly the same razor, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. I would trust these guys with any vintage Gillette razor. Thumbs up from me.

Nice job but took much longer than advertised

The work done on my Fat Boy was fine and met my expectations of the quality of the workmanship. However the web site says that the tune up should take 3-5 days. It was 2 weeks after they had my razor and I had heard nothing. I wrote and email and got no reply. A week later I wrote another email and got a reply a few days later that when it was done they'd update the status. I waited about another week and finally called and asked about my razor. They were very nice and polite on the phone and went back into the shop to check. She said they were working on it and it would be sent out that day or the next day. I waited the two days and still no update or communication. I called again. Same politeness and she went back and checked the status. She said it was almost done done and would be sent out that day. It was. Bottom line it took just about a month from the time they got my razor till I got it back. Forget 3-5 days. I would also suggest better communications when emails are sent asking for updates.

    Turnaround time.

I was very disappointed in the turnaround time. When a company puts the turnaround time on their tune up form and says it is 3-5 business days they should honor that. I did not receive my razor back for two weeks. I even had to send them an email and called them to see what was going on with my razor, poor customer service.

Disappointed with the quality and customer service

I sent my 1973 black beauty for a tune-up. It wasnt in bad shape, but the numbers were worn out, so at a minimum I thought I'd get the letter painted. I paid the 30$ because reviews mentioned "professional" work. When I received my razor back, one of the numbers was not painted. Not a big deal, because it's easy enough to fix. I emailed 3 different customer service representatives and they did not reply when I shared what the issue was. I was so happy when i found this company, finally someone to revamp my razors. Unfortunately, companies like this won't last because when they do screw up, they don't fix it. Disappointed.
