When I first downloaded The Safety Razor Compendium, I dove into it like a kid in candy store. Imagine the Sears Catalog for razor geeks. It's obviously a very impressive and comprehensive piece of work. At first look, It seemed as if there was an entry for every safety razor ever made. But very soon, glaring omissions became apparent. While there is a short entry for the Toggle in the rather large Gillette section, there isn't even a single mention of the Fatboy, Adjustable Slim, or Super Adjustable line. Also, the book glosses over or ignores many variations and distinctions within models and styles over the years. It would be as if a book about the history of Rock and Roll's biggest chapter, "The Beatles," made no reference whatsoever to Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, and the White Album; or if history of Kodak completely ignored the existence of the Brownie and the Instamatic. You could go your whole life and never see the vast majority of the other items and brands covered in the book. But at the very least, it's a great quick-and-dirty resource, and a starting point for further research.
