Let's start with the build quality, incase you have been living somewhere with no internet, this is solid stainless steel, built like a tank that was made by an artist, just gorgeous and sexy all in one.It does have some heft to it, and the grip is superb, you should not drop this. Every worked smoothly and without fault, just like it should. The handle is for me, a perfect size not too long, if your one of those guys who has to have 4 inch handle.... ehh you might want to think twice, but the thickness of the handle might be enough to make you change your mind its a nice thick handle, not thin like a Gillette tech. Now lets move on to My first shave... After hearing how smooth it is, how efficient it is, I wasn't sure what to expect, so I set it in the middle and gave it a go. Smooth? Yes. Efficient? Yes. With 2 days of whiskers I went for a 321 setting on declining passes, setting 3 was more than effective, 2 was wonderfully smooth and 1 was still capable for ATG to leave me with a BBS! Unlike many adjustable razors where setting 1 is pointless, the Rex is still doing its thing. If your looking for a 1 for all razor and its gonna be your only razor, I don't see how you could go wrong here, I own the $1.95, slim, super adjustable, Rockwell, VB Crusader, Weishi, not to mention many, many, my wife would kill me if she Knew how many razors. The Rex Ambassador is looking like my go to, I thank you Matt and all the gang at Razor Emporium!!!

The razor is very well build and shave beter then expected then finish is topnotch. The razor was wel packed and i receiveid it in perfect order in the Netherlands. My other razors are almost unemployed that good is the REX Ambassador

As passionate as I have become about vintage Gillette razors (thanks in no small part to Matt and the rest of the Razor Emporium collective), I cannot exaggerate my love for this fantastic, modern DE razor. It boils down to this: shaving with this razor is like playing a Stradivarius violin. In his seminal work, "A Philosophy of Music Education," eminent music educator and philosopher Bennett Reimer discussed the difference between "knowing about" and "knowing within." The type of knowledge one generates from learning within an experience is that which makes an experience unique. In music, knowing "within" is knowledge of a different order than knowing, say, what a quarter note is, or who to read in the key of B-flat. Music is unique because it inherently provides insights into emotions and aesthetic development that only music can provide. It's not just about making music; it's about connecting the experience with the emotions in ways that only music can do. Playing a Stradivarius violin makes this goal much more attainable in the hands of an expert than a cheap violin from a pawn shop. In shaving, sure we have to know "about" how to perform the complex actions of shaving, the grain mapping, the proper lather techniques, etc. But we have to learn "within" the experience of shaving. We experience tactile feedback. We act upon the razor, and razor acts upon us (much as pedagogue John Dewey described the artistic process) in a continuous cycle. Having the Rex Ambassador in your hands is like playing on a Stradivarius: certainly it helps you perform the complex act of shaving (with excellent weight, perfect balance, smooth design, etc.), but it helps you connect the act with the aesthetics of the experience, the emotional content of the shave. This razor helps you explore the aesthetic/emotional component of shaving in a way that only the greatest razors can. If you, like me, are one of those people who treat their shaving as an important ritual, as time to explore the sensual/sensuous nature of shaving, you must have this razor. It is the Stradivarius of the DE razor world.

I own several DE adjustable razors and believe this is most likely the best DE adjustable razor. The design is very good and the balance in the hand is superb. Above all, the quality of the shave is great.
