Ambassador

Good things; The adjustability is very good, the shave is good, weight and balance are excellent, the speed of shipping is fantastic. Bad things; Packaging although it looks great, did not hold the razor at all and there was enough free room in the box that it must have banged around a lot during shipping or I was given one that had been returned. Machining around the turn knob has dings around the entire circumference. All other areas are fine though. On the head itself the movable portion of the plate has four VERY sharp exposed corners that I wish I could include a picture of…they are VERY prominent and the area must be touched during the blade change. Speaking of which, is difficult and uncomfortable. (And I’m in the business of being uncomfortable….not usually a complaint of mine) the “lugs” on the top cap that go into the slots in de blades are not long enough…..during blade change the blade attempts to shift out of alignment. I’ve been using de safety razors for about 25 years, although I’m not afraid of the price point, and love US made products, this needs an engineer and machinists help to make it worth it. I wouldn’t return it but would appreciate the offer of one in better condition. Thank you, for your time.

Added info to my last review

Forgot to add, when the razor came, it was loose in the box after shipping. The foam doesn't hold it tight enough, maybe make it deeper or narrower, or maybe find a padded tape to go over the gap to keep it from falling out. It's not a major issue, the thing is built like a tank...

Took a little to warm up to it

At first I was unsure of this razor, it felt a bit aggressive but after a couple weeks or so with it I've learned to really embrace it. Start my shave off around a 4/4.5 and work my way down each pass. Very close shave! With very little if no irritation. The one thing I think can be improved upon is the cap, the way the razor blade sits in there while you're trying to put it together isn't as secure as it could be. The metal things that hold the blade in the cap could be longer, or something... Maybe something to consider in a future version, but that's my only real complaint. Overall a great razor.

Efficient and well made

I have about 3 months worth of use as of writing this. Upon opening the box I was really impressed by the build quality of the razor. The fit and finish is perfect. There is no play or wiggle to be found anywhere on the razor. When a blade is loaded, there is no chatter or play. All 6 settings (and everything in between) are efficient and useful. When shaving, the razor is noticeably blade positive. You will definitely fell the blade. I feel that I needed to lighten up my pressure when using this razor. After a while of improving my technique, I am able to complete close and comfortable shaves consistently. I have no doubt that with the build quality and materials used, this razor will easily be able to be passed down many generations.
