I had been wanting a fatboy for a long time after hearing/reading all the amazing reviews it’s been given and I was not disappointed at all! They did such a great job on its restoration and the plating is flawless. Everything works like brand new and it gives me the best shave I’ve ever had! Satisfied is not enough to describe how i feel about my razor. Hats off to Razor Emporium.

On May 12, 2018, I purchased a Gillette Made to Order Fatboy. To my knowledge at the time of my order, Razor Emporium had Gillette Fatboy’s available and ready to ship that had completed the Revamp Service and been approved for sale. In spite of that, at my request Razor Emporium worked very hard to locate and revamp a razor of a specific date code. The razor I received on August 15, 2018, was as pristine and mechanically sound as I expected given reviews, and it has a preferential date code of my liking. I was hesitant to place an order, but I am glad I did. I received a free polishing cloth that I will make use of, and once the Revamp was complete the free shipping only took two days to arrive. Throughout the process, I received updates on the phase of the revamp service and a free shipping code I could use in advance of my Made To Order shipment for any item available on the website. I cannot deny that three months is a sizable amount of time, but had I not requested a certain date code I believe I would have had a razor delivered in two weeks or less. The Razor Emporium staff quickly responded to inquiries I sent them. I am almost certain the ready to ship Fatboy option will be available to potential customers into instant gratification. I don’t mind waiting a little longer. I mind that I get what I pay for. I feel I did. I also now have a place I can send razors that don’t meet my standard of cleanliness. If I were to offer any criticism, it would be that I did not receive a before picture of the razor. I would love to know what the razor looked like prior to the Revamp Service. It is certainly the idea of repairing something weathered and worn and restoring it to a like-new condition that attracted me to Razor Emporium. The fact that I didn’t get to see any before pictures feels like a missed opportunity. Nonetheless, the craftsmanship and attention to detail given to my razor appear beyond reproach.

I found my (old) new Fatboy to be a little chunkier than I thought it would be. A bit heavy and a little short. Now that I have been shaving with it I have to say that is is giving me the closest and smoothest shaves of any razor to date. The audial feedback is just right. The Fatboy just glides over my face with no discernible pull until it is time to refplace the blade. Combined with a Feather blade the Fatboy is producing a fabulous shaving experience. Oh and by the way the idea of using a vintage piece of Americana which is so well made it performs perfectly after 60 years is totally amazing. Kudos to Matt for sourcing and reconditioning this piece of art.

Nice work on a vintage piece, 4 stars. Timeline is sketchy, work and product superb. Do it you will not be disappointed, just realize 3 weeks is not what to expect. Quality is not fast or cheap. Thanks!!!!!
